Kian Soon Mechanical Components is excited to appoint Christopher Png, former Business Development Director, as our new Managing Director.
After a 5-year stint as a Management Associate at PSA Corporation Ltd, Christopher started as a Sales Executive at Kian Soon, where he subsequently devoted 12 years of his career.
In his last appointment as Business Development Director, he led the sales division, where he was responsible for the overall management of strategic and sales activities. He proved to be a momentous force in leading the team to achieve new highs year after year.
“I have seen Kian Soon evolve from a simple hardware shop into the strong regional player under the Bufab Group that she is today. I am humbled to be given this opportunity and will strive to excel in my new role and fulfil the responsibilities it entails.” said Christopher. “It is my belief that Kian Soon has plenty of room to expand, and that we can achieve Leadership in line with Bufab’s goal.”
Having assumed responsibilities in multiple aspects of Kian Soon’s business, Christopher has developed in-depth understanding of the needs of all parties, and an appreciation for the finer details.
Patricia Png, Kian Soon’s Managing Director since 2017, now looks forward to using her expertise to temporarily lead the Sales team, before her retirement in 2020. “I remember a time when a lot of industry players were still labelling us as just a general hardware supplier. A time for which we long surpassed and grown, to the international influence we are today. Competitors, customers and suppliers alike, now see us at an industry player to be reckoned with.” said Patricia when asked on her view of the company’s beginnings.
“An adage I often coin, is that a company must be cohesive and cooperative internally before she is fundamentally strong enough to face to world. For Kian Soon, our success today is on the backs of sheer commitment and hard work from our long serving employees, for which I am very grateful for. I know Christopher to be an advocate of this unity and will prove a great leader in his new role.”
Since 2017, Kian Soon has been a part of the Bufab family, an international solutions provider. Bufab’s goal for 2020 is to be the first choice, and preferred partner, for the global C-parts industry. Christopher is expected to lead Kian Soon in the forefront of efforts towards the ASEAN region.

Kian Soon was founded in 1977 and is one of the leading distributors of C parts in South-East Asia. Aside from their head office in Singapore, the company also has subsidiaries in Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand.
Kian soon was acquired by Bufab in 2017 and within a year of its joining, the company was awarded an accolade for hitting a record high in Sales Revenue.
