Kian Soon Mechanical Components would like to congratulate both Mr Michael Png and Ms Patricia Png on their official retirement. From the humble beginnings in 1977, Kian Soon has come a long way.
As the founder of the company, Mr Michael Png single-handedly built up the Kian Soon brand and grew what started as a simple hardware store to a key player in the industry. Ms Patricia Png, with her 25-year tenure, leveraged on the foundation that her father built and brought Kian Soon further with heavy expansion of the business and global outreach, up to a company with a strong commercial influence that it is today, now as part of the Bufab Group.
As of 2020, Kian Soon Mechanical Components has customers all over the world and offices in Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia, with plans to expand further within the South East Asian Region.
“Both Michael and Patricia have been pivotal figures within the Kian Soon organisation and part of the team I work closely with, here in Singapore. I want to express my deepest gratitude for their contributions to the company, for without them, Bufab would never have found such a great partner in the Asean region.” Mathias Torstensson, Director Region APAC.
With their departure from the company, they leave unfillable voids, that encompass decades upon decades of experience, everlasting rapport with the staff, and expertise in dealing with the multitude of challenges faced by the company during its growth.
As an official farewell, Kian Soon Mechanical Components organised a very special and unique Annual Dinner & Dance on 10th January 2020. The event was attended by both employees and their family members to celebrate their official retirement.
Apart from farewell gifts prepared by the company, each department contributed their very own surprises and gifts that embodied the appreciation they felt to both the founding members of the company.
From a seemingly normal dinner, the group surprised the two treasured members with a "建顺一心“ special segment, signifying how they will forever be in the hearts and minds of every employee even after their departure.

The segment constituted of song, dance and both founding member completing the "Kian Soon Circle" through their golden handprints. Each founder was also presented with a scrapbook filled with pages and memories, handmade from each department.
The night ended with reminiscent tears, laughter and joy – one that everyone present, will never forget.
Since the announcement of their retirement in 2019, Christopher Png officially took office as MD and has run the company for a year since. “It is with a heavy heart, do we bid farewell to both influential members of the company. Both Michael and Patricia have been more than just family members and founding members, but true mentors and inspirations to both myself and every employee in Kian Soon.
"The company and our work would never have been so progressive without their guidance and vision of excellence. We wish them both the very best in their future endeavours. Retirement will surely offer many new opportunities, for which we know will be embraced wholeheartedly, just as in Kian Soon.” Christopher Png, Managing Director of Kian Soon Mechanical Components.
It is of great importance to put into words our heartfelt thanks to Michael and Patricia for the hard work and dedication given to the company all these years. They will always be in our thoughts and we hope that they will enjoy their well-deserved retirement.
